This series applied the series 100 on Tokaido line to Tohoku or Joetsu Shinkansen in 1985. The vehicle has a sharper nose and double decker as same as series 100, and a feature to protect from snow was added. The maximum speed is 240km/h as same as series 200 version 0. It disappeared from Tohoku Shinkansen in 2004.
